The new SMC8004-BCM EZ Connect Commercial Cable Modem Router was released by SMC Networks, a networking solutions provider, made for little to mid-sized business, hospitality and ISP applications.
The company said the SMC8004-BCM is available for cable service providers, is CableLabs DOCSIS 1.1-certified and 2.0-ready, to be interoperable with cable networks. It offers 4MB Flash ROM, 16MB SDRAM and TurboDOX technology and provides up to 38Mb/s downstream data transmission rates and upstream that is 30Mb/s.
The SMC8004-BCM provides static IP support via RIP v1 and v2 and provides remote troubleshooting with CLI and GUI in order to help remove truck rolls, with a GUI allowing two logins for static IP and DHCP server settings. It features USB & Ethernet and supports up to 16 users simultaneously in the default cable mode, supports class A address space, offers an eight CDIR block in router mode and offers remote management access through HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP or Telnet.
